AgriTrace is an open-source public goods project focused on improving transparency, trust, and coordination in real-world agricultural supply chains.
The project enables producers to create verifiable product lots, generate QR codes, and allow third parties (buyers, auditors, or consumers) to verify origin and integrity through deterministic hashing and blockchain-based verification. Sensitive product data remains off-chain, while verifiable proofs are anchored on Ethereum-compatible infrastructure to ensure auditability without sacrificing privacy.
AgriTrace is designed to reduce onboarding friction for non-technical users by abstracting blockchain complexity behind simple QR-based workflows. The project targets real-world public goods use cases such as traceability, impact measurement, and reputation building for small and medium producers, particularly in emerging markets.
The current MVP demonstrates end-to-end functionality, including lot creation, hashing, QR generation, and verification flows. Future development focuses on deploying smart contracts, enabling on-chain verification, and supporting pilot deployments with real-world users.

Future sustainability may be achieved through optional value-added services, such as higher-volume usage tiers for producers or exporters, customized integrations for organizations, and analytics or compliance tooling built on top of the open verification layer. This approach allows AgriTrace to remain aligned with public goods principles while supporting long-term maintenance and development.
