About Us
Coven Classics is a graphic novel series written by Awkquarian and co-illustrated by Sahil. We produce comic books, webtoons, video content, and original IP. We're a team of creatives, including illustrators, animators, and developers, crafting comics that reimagine classic stories with a gothic twist. Our stories feature lead characters drawn from popular NFT collections. Most of our stories are thrillers or soft horror, starring strong female protagonists, esoterica, goth girls, witchcraft, zombies, and more.
Why are we doing this
Comics are collectibles by nature, and IP franchises boast immense global fandoms. Web3 creator economies also thrive on principles of fandoms, decentralization, and creator autonomy, making this the perfect time to build IP verses in web3. Our goal as new age creators is to establish an NFT-native IP studio where we produce original webtoons and comics, experiment with how comics are distributed in Web3, collaborate with others on our comics, and eventually be in a position to help other creators build their own comics with us.
Practical Magick
The first comic in the series - Practical Magick is a coming of age tale of two witches who are learning about adulting, sisterhood, discovering their magical powers and ofc lots of magick.
The comic reading experience comes with an original soundtrack “Visions”. The comic book launched first week of August on Base.
Our first comic, 'Practical Magick,'is a witchy tale inspired by the cult classic 'The Craft.' It stars my iconic Sad Girls Bar characters as the main protagonists. The story follows two young witches who discover their magical abilities. As they delve deeper, they uncover dark secrets about their own lineage and the town's history.
We just want to tell stories that often go untold in a way that will make people care about the issues we women face.
There's a personal element to this venture. These stories echo my own experiences and those of many women and non-binary individuals around me. The complexities, the strengths, and the diverse experiences we live through are often missing from mainstream cinema and comics. Our stories go untold, especially in web3.
Coven Classics aims to fill this gap, creating relatable, strong characters for those seeking genuine representation. Written and illustrated by a woman for other women. We're also democratizing our creation tools and learnings with our community, share our social fi earnings with them, encourage them to co-create with us and eventually want to figure our better ways to world build together.
