VoiceDeck is an impact marketplace where organizations list concrete outcomes from their work as impact certificates for sale at a fixed price.
Our mission is to build a self-sustaining, outcome-based fundraising model for public good sectors, such as journalism that often generate far more social value than they can capture financially.
Traditional fundraising in the social sector encourages ‘double-selling’ of impact, pushing organizations to knock on the doors of multiple donors with the same body of work. This prioritizes marketing & brand building (over impact creation) and drives donations based on emotions (rather than evidence). Smaller grassroots organizations with concrete impact from their work often lose the fundraising race to big philanthropies that can afford a strong marketing team with English speakers.
Our impact marketplace, launched in November 2024, moves away from the traditional fundraising model of service grants to a product-sales approach of giving.
We have partnered with the nonprofit media outlet, Video Volunteers, to publish impact stories created by their network of 200+ citizen journalists, for sale as onchain impact certificates using the Hypercerts protocol. Each certificate is capped at a fixed price (the cost taken to publish the story). Buyers can purchase and become owners of units of these impact certificates. Once the price is reached through sale, the organization must create a new impact to be eligible for more funding as its old ones have been sold. This prevents double selling of impact & allows organisations to prioritize the creation of new impact over excessive marketing currently driving fundraising in the traditional social sector.
We also quantify the impact of each story to generate a $ value of benefits to society generated per $1 given to the story to facilitate evidence based giving. Our marketplace enables both crypto & fiat payments towards purchase of journalism impact certificates that span all SDG targets.
Through this, VoiceDeck acts as both fundraising partner and impact evaluator to the journalism organizations we collaborate with.
